Croatian Public Relations Association’s award for the development of the profession awarded to Krešimir Macan
The Jury of the Croatian Public Relations Association awarded the owner of the PR agency Manjgura for the advancement of the profession in Croatia.
The Croatian Association of Public Relations has given the awards for best communication projects for the twelfth time. Krešimir Macan, a founder, and owner of Manjgura, one of the oldest Croatian public relations agencies, was awarded Grand PRix for the overall work in public relations thus far and a special contribution to the development of the profession.
“Krešimir Macan in public relations in Croatia is like a Digitron among the calculators, the first association when talking about public relations in our country. In what could be called political public relations, he is surely at the top of the list of relevant Croatian experts whose services, expertise and competencies were equally appreciated and sought after by all political parties in Croatia as well as many others in the region. He is one of the most deserving people for ending a harmful ban on the work of the state bodies and companies with public relations agencies at the end of 2017, which certainly deserves recognition and respect”, said the President of the Croatian Public Relations Association Ana Tkalac Verčić.
“After more than 20 years of doing this business, this kind of recognition from peers and the profession really means a lot to me. When I started working in public relations, people rarely understood what it was I was actually doing, but today quality communication is the foundation of every successful business and project. Looking back at what we have achieved during the last two decades, I wholeheartedly believe we can be proud and motivated to continue our work and improve where possible”, Macan said, receiving the greatest professional acknowledgment in public relations.
As a teenager, Macan was working as a tour guide, unaware that he was already gaining knowledge and experience in public relations which he would later dedicate his professional career to. It is less known that Krešimir has a degree in electrical engineering, however, his career path was determined during the Homeland War, when he held the position of the Secretary of the Ministry of Information of the Republic of Croatia, and later the Head of the Information Section of the MVP. He has built an enviable professional career with a focus on crisis communication, media relations and strategic communication in politics.
He is happy to share his knowledge and experience with students and colleagues, and actively contributing to the development of the profession through his engagement at HUOJ, and by participating in numerous conferences and expert discussions. He is a member of the renowned International (IAPC) and European Association of Political Communicators (EAPC) and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR). After 20 years of successfully managing the company, Macan has handed the agency management over to Katarina Leko.
